Program coordination

A successful marching band season does not happen by accident. Behind every great performance is careful planning and thoughtful show design. That is where Jeremy comes in!

As a program coordinator, Jeremy's role is to bring all the moving parts of your program (designers, staff, and students) together into one unified vision the maximizes the educational and artistic outcomes of your program. From the very first design conversations to the last competition weekend, this ensures that every element of the show serves your goals, your students, and your community.

Example Services
Program coordination can be what every your program needs in order to have a unified approach to the marching band season. Below are things that can be done in alone or in combination!

  • Original Show Design: This can include generating a unique theme, conceptual development, selecting music, and making aesthetic decisions, all while balancing your students needs, competitive outcomes, and program goals.

  • Design Team Logistics: Whether you have a team in place, or would like Jeremy to bring in a team that fits your program, facilitating collaboration between roles is key. Jeremy will build a production schedule, ensure communication between designers, and work to build a seamless production.

  • Production Sheet Design: Development of a singular, unifying document is critical to a well paced and effective show. Creation of a clear and concise production sheet is what helps tie the visual and musical design into a cohesive product.

  • Props and Field Layouts: Ensuring that your props (or set pieces) look good, fit the show, and are well utilized is now a vital part of contemporary show design.

  • Custom Drill Design: Offered separately or in conjunction with program coordination, Jeremy has written drill for clients across the country for over a decade.

  • Season Planning: The pacing of a marching band season is one of the keys to success. Having taught high school, collegiate and drum corp level ensembles, Jeremy can assist in guiding your fundamental training program, rehearsal strategies, and season structure.

  • In Season Consultation: This can include regular phone calls, check-ins, video commentary, or review of judges' feedback. Jeremy can be a voice of input throughout the season providing support and guidance all the way to the final performance.
Why Hire a Program Coordinator?
Directors already juggle so much: teaching, managing, communicating, and inspiring. And the "decision fatigue" is real. A program coordinator takes the weight of “big picture” logistics and design off your shoulders, freeing you to do what you do best: teach.

With a dedicated coordinator, your program runs more smoothly, your staff feels more supported, and your students benefit from a clear, consistent, and rewarding season. As a designer and band director, Jeremy brings a perspective that places weight on both the educational and artistic outcomes of the marching band season.

"Lite" Program Coordination
Many groups are looking to "take the next step" as a program, but may not be ready for the fully customized, "from scratch" design process. Or maybe your group is simply looking for a cohesive, effective show while minimizing stress in the Fall. These groups may not need the extensive services described above, but could still benefit from some degree of support and customization. A great option in this case can be re-theming an existing show  ("stock" or previously custom). This can include adjusting music to fit the specific needs of your program, choosing props or uniforms that give the show an aesthetic that is unique to your school. Jeremy can help customize existing music books to fit your ensemble and develop a unique visual design that gives a premium feel to the show, without producing with a fully custom show from scratch.
